Guidance on the GDPR in innovation projects

Our innovation sandbox provides guidance free of charge for public and private actors developing data-driven solutions. Get expert guidance through workshops. Applications to join the Innovation Sandbox are open twice a year.

Are you developing a product or service involving the processing of personal data? Do you have an innovation project with challenging GDPR questions? If so, you can receive help clarifying your data protection issues in our innovation sandbox.

The innovation sandbox is a concept that combines oral and written guidance through a series of workshops focused on a specific project. It provides an opportunity for both public and private actors to test ideas or projects in dialogue with our specialists in data protection, technology, information security and cybersecurity – whether the project involves new technology or new applications of existing technology.

Exploration and practice

Together, we explore how data protection regulations can be applied in practice and what insights may be valuable for others. After the project is completed, we will publish the results in a public report on our website, so that others can benefit from the guidance.

The innovation sandbox enables innovation and mutual learning. You will gain deeper knowledge about data protection regulations and what applies to your unique project. Meanwhile, we at IMY learn about how new technology works and what legal issues arise as a result.

Get inspired by other projects

A project typically lasts about six months, and participation is free of charge. You are primarily involved during the first three to four months, when we conduct workshops together. We have two application periods per year.
